The Pizarro Trio was founded by Artur Pizarro in 2005 is fast gaining a reputation as one of the most exciting young ensembles to emerge in recent years. Recently the trio was invited by the BBC to perform at the Queen’s Festival in Belfast in a concert broadcast by BBC Radio 3. In November 05 the trio made their debut at a sell out recital at London’s Wigmore Hall. Forthcoming concerts include the Casda Da Musica in Porto and a residency at the Snape Maltings Concert Hall, Aldeburgh, in July 06 and the Stavanger International Chamber Music Festival in Norway in August 06.

Artur Pizarro - Piano
Renowned for his lyrical poeticism and outstanding virtuosity, Artur Pizarro won the Leeds International Piano Competition in 1990. Artur performs regularly throughout the world with the leading orchestras and the world’s most distinguished conductors including Esa-Pekka Salonen, Sir Andrew Davis, Charles Dutoit, Franz Welser-Most and Sir Simon Rattle. Artur regularly appears as a recitalist and chamber musician. As a recitalist Artur has performed at many of the world’s most prestigious venues and festivals including Washington’s Kennedy Centre, The Wigmore Hall, The Aldeburgh Festival, Neues Gewandhaus, Frankfurt Alte Oper, Theatre du Chatelet, Musee D’Orsay, Zurich Tonhalle, the BBC Proms, and the NHK and Orchard Halls in Japan.

Raphael Oleg - Violin
In 1986 Raphael Oleg was awarded the first prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition and has since earned an impressive worldwide reputation both as a recitalist, chamber musician and soloist. Raphael has performed throughout the world with many eminent orchestras and conductors including the Royal Concertgebouw under Chailly, the Philadelphia Orchestra under Maazel, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields under Mariner, the Munich State Opera Orchestra under Sawallisch and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe under Berglund.

Josephine Knight - 'Cello
A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, Yale University and the Juilliard School, Josephine Knight made her career debut with a critically acclaimed recital at the Wigmore Hall in London. As soloist and chamber musician Josephine has collaborated with some of the world’s most distinguished performers and has performed at major international festivals. Josephine has appeared as soloist with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, The English Chamber Orchestra, Hamburg Symphony and the Bochum Symphony Orchestras. Josephine’s recording of Tavener`s `The Protecting Veil` (Carlton Classics) received public and critical acclaim and reached the Top 10 in the Classical Music Charts. A recipient of numerous prizes, awards and scholarships, Josephine is currently Principal Cello of the English Chamber Orchestra and Professor of Cello at the Royal Academy of Music. In August 2005 Josephine made her debut as soloist at the BBC Proms with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales performing a World Premiere by Huw Watkins. Josephine plays the ‘Markovitch’ Stradivarius ‘cello.
